Bridging Science and Action: Climate and Impact Attribution Workshop 2023
The workshop, hosted by Wim Thiery and his team (Hydrology and Climate Research Group), featured engaging sessions on the concepts, methods, and applications of attribution, with expert presentations and dynamic discussions. A breakout group focused on the challenges and opportunities of using data sets for attribution studies, highlighting the importance of robust, standardized data for accurate analysis. One of the standout moments was a keynote by Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts, a Belgian climate and children’s rights activist, who passionately connected the dots between climate impacts and human rights, emphasizing the urgency of protecting vulnerable communities and future generations.
The event was a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and fostering partnerships. A detailed overview of the discussions and outcomes can be found in this workshop highlights video.
The workshop not only advanced scientific understanding of climate and impact attribution but also strengthened the dialogue between researchers and stakeholders, paving the way for impactful, evidence-based solutions to climate challenges.
