PROCLIAS TG3.2 WORKSHOP IN VENICE

The fourth PROCLIAS TG3.2 workshop, focusing on the impact of heat on labor and the incorporation of adaptation measures, took place in Venice from September 30 to October 2, 2024.

Organized by the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC) and hosted at the economic campus of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the event leveraged the unique and inspiring setting of Venice—an atmosphere beautifully captured in the attached images.

The main goal of this three-day workshop was to advance the understanding and assessment of climate impacts on labour. This included developing a structured framework for incorporating labor adaptation responses to heat stress into climate adaptation modeling. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions, contributing to the drafting of a theoretical framework paper, which is set to be submitted for peer review in the near future.

Key topics covered during the workshop included an update on the case study of Israel, climate impact attribution in the field of labour and a focus on labour force in the agriculture food system. Esteemed speakers, including Professor Elizabeth Robinson, Professor Simon Gosling, Dr. Franziska Piontek, and Dr. Shouro Dasgupta, shared their insights and research findings.

A special thank you goes to all the participants and the dedicated CMCC staff who contributed to the workshop’s success.

We very much thank EU COST Association and the COST Action CA19139 PROCLIAS for supporting this workshop.
