STSM at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK)

Dr. Johanna Malle, a postdoctoral researcher from Swiss Federal Institute for Forest Snow and Landscape Research WSL, Switzerland spend 2 weeks with different groups at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) on coordinating and enhancing progress of the ISIMIP3a high-resolution experiments.

by Johanna Malle

The aim of these experiments is to investigate the effects of high-resolution climate forcing on climate impact studies across various ISIMIP sectors. This involved working closely with multiple groups at PIK, who are actively participating in the experiments. During her stay at PIK, Johanna engaged in in-depth discussions with experts from different sectors, gaining valuable insights into their unique modelling strategies and requirements.

Apart from the scientific merit, the mission also allowed Johanna to explore the beautiful waters and landscape around Potsdam and learn from the rich history of Berlin.
