Interdisciplinary training school on forest ecosystems: technologies, biodiversity, modelling
In July, more than 80 PhD students, postdocs and senior scientists from 24 countries all over Europe came together at the Slovenian Forest Institute, Ljubljana, to learn from each other and strengthen networks across disciplines.

STSM at ETH-Zürich, Forest Ecology group
Dr Laura Dobor, a postdoctoral researcher from the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU), Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Prague spent 15 days in Zürich, Switzerland with Prof Dr Harald Bugmann and Dr Olalla Díaz Yáñez on learning about and structural model uncertainties and the LandClim forest landscape model.

The workshop on Tree Regeneration Modelling organized last June in Davos gathered 20 researchers from 14 vegetation modelling teams and 12 institutions.

STSM: Uncertainty in biodiversity impacts of high resolution land-use change projection
This summer, PhD candidate Michael Wögerer from the International Institute for Systems Analysis (IIASA) spent a month visiting the land-use modelling teams from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) to work on topics regarding inter-model comparison and regionally explicit impact analysis.

Doroteja Bitunjac, PhD student from Croatian Forest Research Institute, spent one month in Zvolen working with Dr. Ing. Katarína Merganičová on calibration and validation of the Biome-BGCMuSo model for simulations of oak forests in Europe.

Dr. Shouro Dasgupta from the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC) spent two weeks working with Professor Elizabeth Robinson at the Grantham Research Institute, LSE, on the impacts of climate change on the labour force, food security, and preparing for COP27.

The second PROCLIAS TG3.2 on incorporating adaptation in labour impacts of climate change was held in Venice on 5-6 September 2022.
STSM with the Land Surface Science Group at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Wallingford, UK & the Climate Impacts Group at the Met Office in Exeter, UK
PhD Candidate Athanasios Tsilimigkras from the Technical University of Crete (TUC) spent three weeks with the Land Surface Science Group at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (UKCEH) and one week with the Climate Impacts Group at the Met Office working on improving the JULES land surface model’s river routing scheme at the global scale.

PROCLIAS-ISIMIP water quality workshop
Finally, a new water quality sector is in the plan for the Intersectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISIMIP). Following this new effort, several activities were organized within the framework of the COST Action PROCLIAS. Between the 30th and 31st of August roughly 50 participants (40 on-site and around 10 online), met at the Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
